Annual Philip and Bernice Frieze Charity Golf Tournament Enters 25th Year

Press Release

Proceeds Benefit Patient Families at Boston Children’s Hospital

Date June 14, 2018

The 25th Annual Philip and Bernice Frieze Charity Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, MA. The tournament benefits The Philip and Bernice Frieze Fund at Boston Children’s Hospital, which provides support to families coping with the serious illness of a child and helps ease some of the associated financial burden.

Since inception in 1994, the tournament has raised over $3.6 million. The event was founded by and is organized by employees of Gordon Brothers in the name of the company’s former CEO, Philip Frieze, who passed away in 1993. The Frieze family has pledged to match all new donations and donation increases over the prior year in honor of this landmark occasion.

“My parents, Phil and Bernice Frieze, started this fund over 45 years ago. We are proud to honor their legacy with the 25th year of this tournament,” said Michael Frieze, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Gordon Brothers, and chairman of the 2018 tournament. “Giving back to the community is a major priority for the firm and our family. We are grateful to donors, sponsors and our own employees who have all contributed to make the event a success.”

The fund benefits more than 500 families each year that must temporarily relocate to seek treatment for a sick child at Boston Children’s Hospital. Support comes in the form of housing, utility, food and transportation assistance.
